Can I Run an Anonymous Fundraising Campaign?

1 min read

We understand that some stories are deeply personal, and there may be sensitive reasons for wanting to fundraise anonymously. While anonymous campaigns are possible in certain cases, we generally recommend a more open approach – and here’s why:

  1. Building Connection: Campaigns that include names, faces, or personal details tend to do better. Donors connect more easily when they understand who they’re helping and why. Transparency helps build trust and inspires generosity.
  2. Verification requirements: In exceptional cases where anonymity is necessary, we may allow an anonymous campaign—provided we can still verify the fundraiser behind the scenes. This means the campaign creator must share their identity and supply adequate documentation to support the legitimacy of the cause.
  3. Promotion & Reach: The success of a campaign often depends on how widely and confidently it’s shared. An anonymous campaign can be more difficult to promote, which may affect the number of people it reaches
  4. Alternative Options: If you are uncomfortable using your own name, consider asking a trusted friend or family member to manage the campaign on your behalf. This allows for a more public-facing presence while protecting your privacy.

In Summary:
Anonymous campaigns are possible but not ideal. They come with limitations that can affect the success of your fundraising efforts. If you’re considering this route, it’s important to plan carefully, especially in terms of how the campaign will be promoted.

If you have any further questions or need support in setting up your campaign, we’re here to help.
