Wellington, South Africa — South African bodybuilder Douglas Green is racing against time to raise the funds needed to compete internationally in Las Vegas this November, after earning the opportunity following a silver-medal performance in Singapore earlier this year.

Green, from Wellington in the Drakenstein area, is hoping to raise R80,000 towards flights, accommodation, competition registration fees, nutrition and travel insurance.

According to the campaign, Green is expected to leave South Africa by 7 November 2026, making both fundraising and travel arrangements particularly time-sensitive.

From Singapore Silver to a Las Vegas Opportunity

Green’s latest international opportunity follows a successful appearance in Singapore during the 2026 season, where the campaign says he earned a silver medal.

Following that result, he received an invitation to compete at an upcoming bodybuilding event in Las Vegas.

For Green and those supporting him, the invitation represents the next step in a sporting journey built around years of discipline, preparation and competition.

The campaign describes him as an athlete who has worked to take his bodybuilding career beyond South Africa and onto the international stage.

Now, the challenge is getting him there.

The R80,000 fundraising target is intended to cover the practical costs of the trip, including airfare, accommodation, registration, nutrition and travel insurance.

A Race Against the Clock

Funding is only one part of the challenge.

The campaign also says Green urgently needs assistance securing an expedited visa appointment ahead of his planned departure.

With the Las Vegas competition approaching quickly, organisers are appealing not only to individual donors, but also to businesses and potential sponsors who may be able to assist financially or through travel-related support.

For corporate partners, the campaign also proposes opportunities for brand exposure through Green’s competition attire, social media content and media appearances linked to his participation.

The organisers are similarly hoping that local and sporting networks may be able to help connect Green with the right support before the deadline.

Three Donors Have Already Stepped In

The fundraiser has received its first contributions, including two R1,000 donations and another R200 contribution accompanied by the message: “Go Dougie!”

While the campaign is still at an early stage, Green needs to raise the majority of the R80,000 target within a short period if the trip is to go ahead as planned.

For his supporters, the appeal is ultimately about helping a South African athlete who has already achieved an international podium finish take up the next opportunity in front of him.

With the competition only weeks away, every contribution and connection could play a role in getting Green to Las Vegas.
