Misha Abarder’s football story began when she was three years old. At first, she was often the only girl in a boys’ team. What kept her there was simple: she loved the game.
Over time, that love became skill, discipline and a place in defence. It also opened an international door, the Gothia Youth Cup in Gothenburg, Sweden, one of the world’s best-known youth football tournaments. Her parents, Laylaa and Gasant, helped build the road to that moment. Gasant has coached her, while Laylaa led fundraising efforts that included a BackaBuddy campaign and community events. Support came from relatives, neighbours and people who recognised what the opportunity could mean.
When Misha set off for Sweden, she carried more than kit and boots. She carried years of family commitment and the encouragement of a community that had watched her keep choosing the game. Her journey gives other young girls a picture of what belonging in sport can look like.
