In karate, progress is built through repetition: a movement refined, a lesson revisited and discipline practised long after the excitement of beginning has passed.
That long work has earned Tinus Schoeman selection for a South African Goju Kai cultural exchange and black-belt grading in Japan. The programme offers him the chance to train at the Goju Kai Hombu Dojo under the tradition’s senior teachers and experience the culture from which his practice grew. The opportunity is significant, but the journey is self-funded. Flights, accommodation, training and programme costs have led Tinus and his family to ask their wider community for help.
The campaign is not trying to replace the work that earned his place. It is helping remove the final financial barrier between that work and an experience that could deepen his skills for years to come.
